Enjoy the Adventure
(DSD) is a program designed for beginners who want to experience scuba diving for the first time. It’s a great way to get a taste of the underwater world without committing to a full diving certification course.
Here’s what you can expect from a DSD shore dive in Marsa Alam:
Introduction
The dive center or instructor will begin with a briefing to familiarize you with the basic principles of scuba diving, including equipment use, safety procedures, and underwater communication.
Gear Setup: You’ll be provided with all the necessary scuba diving equipment, including a mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, BCD (Buoyancy Control Device), and a tank. The instructor will help you suit up and ensure that your equipment is properly adjusted.
Skills Practice: Before heading into the open water, you’ll practice some essential skills in a confined, shallow area. This includes clearing your mask, recovering your regulator, and maintaining buoyancy.
Dive Site Selection: Marsa Alam offers a variety of dive sites suitable for beginners. The instructor will choose a location that suits your skill level and interests. Shore dives are great for beginners because they allow for a gradual entry into deeper waters.
Underwater Adventure: Once you’re comfortable and confident, you’ll embark on your underwater adventure. Expect to encounter vibrant coral reefs, colorful marine life, and an array of fish species. Marsa Alam is known for its clear waters and diverse marine ecosystem.
Duration: A typical DSD shore dive can last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on your air consumption and comfort level underwater.
Post-Dive: After your dive, you’ll return to the dive center to debrief with your instructor and discuss your experience. You may also have the opportunity to view underwater photos or videos taken during your dive.
